Society for Technical Communication (STC)

The Society for Technical Communication (STC) is "dedicated to advancing the arts and sciences of technical communication." With 25,000 members it is the largest professional organization of its kind.

STC publishes the monthly magazine Intercom and the quarterly journal Technical Communication. The STC Annual Conference is held every year in May.

The STC Usability and User Experience (UUX) Community, http://www.stcsig.org/usability/, "focuses on issues related to the usability and usability assessment of technical communication, providing a forum in which STC members can share information and experience." Membership is restricted to STC members. It was formed in 1992 as Usability Special Interest Group (Usability SIG) and adopted its current name in 2005.

The Usability SIG maintains a mailing list for its members and organizes sessions at the STC Annual Conference. It also publishes the quarterly newsletter Usability Interface.
