RESPONSIBILITIES

You will manage the User Experience & Design team for the Yahoo! Personals product suite. This interdisciplinary team consists of smart and fun interaction designers, design researchers, visual designers, and prototypers that matrix into a functional organization of product managers, engineers, and marketing professionals. The team's opportunity is to define and develop a growing suite of community-building services for matchmaking, dating and establishing long-term relationships.

You will provide direction to the design team as well as to product teams and are expected to help foster and support a collaborative, innovative culture. In this position you will work with technologists and business strategists to define the experience for the future of Yahoo! Personals.

  • Oversee multiple projects simultaneously from planning to launch
  • Apply user-centered experience design practice by giving direction to and leading product design and research, resulting in high quality, innovative, user experiences
  • Define priorities and manage resources as appropriate across projects
  • Communicate with all levels of management and across multi-disciplinary teams throughout all phases of projects
  • Manage and mentor designers, researchers & prototypers
  • Write performance reviews and determine compensation and career growth

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Human Factors, HCI, visual design, industrial design or related area
  • At least 5 years experience managing a large design team with company-wide impact, and 7 years experience in product design, interaction design, Human Factors, HCI, industrial design, or related area
