MITRE will be conducting research to build computer systems to help people make better decisions. Therefore, the person we are looking for will know how to build computational models and then design and test the computer system. Again, this position is one where we are not evaluating usability, but rather modeling HOW decisions are made.
Purpose: Cognitive Engineer opening for the Systems Engineering directorate to research cognitive performance in making complex decisions, and to design advanced adaptive support systems for command and control applications.
Key Functions: Senior or Lead Cognitive Engineer to support a research and development project in Decision Support Technology for MITRE's Air Force Center.
Preferred Education/Experience: BS +5 years (MS +5 years a plus) in Cognitive Science, Artificial Intelligence, Human Factors, Computer Engineering, Decision Support, or a related field ; leadership experience and C2 domain knowledge desired but not mandatory.
Desired Skills: Decision Theory, Computational Modeling, Statistical Analysis, Computer Programming.
Travel Statement: This position will require overnight travel up to 5% of the time.
Clearance Statement: Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Only US citizens are eligible for a security clearance. For this position, MITRE will consider only applicants with security clearances or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.
