A post-doctoral candidate is desired for a position designing an experimental design tool that measures operators' task performance and decision-making, as well as knowledge and strategies for a given display concept. This test bed will support the definition of display design hypotheses, evaluation types, the development of scenarios, tasks, and operational environments. It will also identify metrics that appropriately map to the characteristics of each experimental scenario for a given display.
The start date is 1 January, 2006 (negotiable) and the funding is assured for 18 months. Baseline requirements include a deep understanding of experimental design as applied to human decision making in complex systems, experience conducting human-computer experiments, parametric and non-parametric statistical models, and an understanding of network centric system operations is a plus. Post-docs in the Humans and Automation Lab have the option to teach one or more seminars in their area of expertise. Contact Dr. Cummings at missyc@mit.edu if interested.
